PEKING GARDEN RESTAURANT- TST HONGKONG

Dining in at this resto was a part of our itinerary while in Hongkong for vacation coz I wanted mama and bro to taste an authentic chinese cuisine while I on the other hand would like to have a taste  on how succulent their peking duck and beggars chicken really is. So after the light show at the harbour, we walked our way through this resto with no reservation.
The place itself is exactly what you would expect from a 3rd floor lesser Shopping Mall venue, with no alfresco experience, no thrills just a great vibe and spectacular food. But the amount of local families enjoying the dishes and environment says it all about the food quality, and the chance to witness new dishes being brought to other tables and asking the service team what those dishes are and experimenting is awesome and part of the charm and experience there.

But wait till you hear the letdown...We asked politely to be moved...No way; they don't (or act like they don't) understand much English. The service was generally apalling. We were surprised to actually receive a bill at the end. We asked for help on the ordering...wow. We ended up with a mess. We ordered the specialty "beggar's chicken"; completely 'sold out' at 8:30. I think...I don't know; maybe they didn't understand? I personally tried bird's nest soup (interesting to try) and we ordered 1 whole Peking duck for the 3 of us (must say that the handmade wraps were nothing short of fantastic) but really....there were maybe 500 people in the dining room, lots of noise and basic lousy service at a very expensive price. If you want to feel like cattle being shoved through a processor, have a go. The restaurants in HK are so amazing; this is just a letdown. hmmm but ill still have a peking duck to go. hehehehe
