HONGKONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT DIY TRIP (DAY 1)

I usually travel on a DIY (Do it yourself) trip most of the time because i like the freedom it entails. It helps me ponder and discover my sense of direction, patience and  can allow me to discover more of myself.

With all the help you can find online, DIY nowadays is one hell of an easy navigation. So to try out again my DIY prowess to test, I booked a flight for  Hongkong-Macau-CEBU vacation tagging along my family as early as January this year.

I boarded the earliest flight to Hongkong via Cathay pacific airlines (the worst airline in terms of new features) from Narita  and will arrive hongkong at around 1:30PM of their local time. While mom and bro will leave a domestic flight to Manila at an earliest flight as well and will board an afternoon flight via Philippine airlines and will arrive hongkong 3 hours later than mine. While dear hubby will board an afternoon flight  from singapore via Singapore airlines as he was on business trip and we will just all met up at HKIA same day as originally planned. Timing and planning is the key thing here coz someone has to wait at the airport for freakin 3 hours.

Once my plane touched down HKIA, all passengers in my flight had to ride an airport train to transport us to terminal 1 where immigration and baggage conveyor for my flight is located. Find it a cool idea to have a train within the airport premises. Expect a long queue for immigration though. But once your done with it, baggage conveyors are just a few meters from the immigration counter. To know where to claim your baggage be attentive during your flight for the conveyor number where you can claim your baggage. For cathay pacific,  announcement are being flashed in your tv screen.

Once i passed customs I saw this ticket counter for airport express where you can buy group tickets for a discounted price (HKD 190 for 3). I was suppose to buy an octopus card but decided not to since hailing a taxi is more convenient for us as Im tagging along my mom.

HKIA is a traveler friendly airport. One can definitely find their way around this huge airport and never be even bored for several hours of waiting time.. Its definitely  in close second with my all time favorite airport changi and LAX.
